Dividing and collecting fire breeching
The Armorfire fire breeching is made in gun metal with 63 mm (2.5 inch) instantaneous connections, so it joins directly to common hydrant hoses and couplings. It comes in two types.
- Dividing breeching (1 in, 2 out): takes one hose line and splits it into two. A fire team can run two hoses with branch pipes from one supply line, to cover two sides of a fire or two floors.
- Collecting breeching (2 in, 1 out): takes two hose lines and joins them into one. It is used to bring water from two hydrants or two pumps into one larger supply, for example to feed a monitor or a fire tender.
How to choose and use a fire breeching
- Dividing or collecting: pick by the job. Dividing spreads one supply over two hoses; collecting adds two supplies into one.
- Size: check that your hoses and couplings are 63 mm instantaneous, to match this breeching.
- Flow: splitting one line into two divides the water between them, so each hose gets less. Check that the supply can feed both.
- Who uses it: fire brigades, industrial fire teams, refineries, plants and large campuses with trained responders.
- Care: keep it with the hose kit, check the coupling lugs and seals before use, and keep it clean and dry after use.
A fire breeching is a hose fitting and is different from a fire brigade inlet, which is fixed at the building to let fire engines pump in. Use it with fire hose pipes and 63 mm hose couplings.
