Armorfire heavy-duty fire hydrant landing valves with 63 mm instantaneous outlets, in gun metal or stainless steel: single headed (Type A, 3 inch flanged inlet) and double headed (Type B, 4 inch flanged inlet), supplied with blank cap and chain.
Armorfire fire hydrant landing valve
The landing valve (hydrant valve) is where the fire brigade or your own fire team connects a hose to the hydrant line. Armorfire makes heavy-duty landing valves in gun metal and stainless steel, both of which resist rust and keep the spindle and seat working after years in a shaft or outdoor yard.
Single or double headed?
Single headed (Type A): one 63 mm outlet, 3 inch (80 NB) flanged inlet. The usual valve on each floor of a building and on yard hydrants.
Double headed (Type B): two 63 mm outlets, 4 inch (100 NB) flanged inlet, so two hose lines can run from one point. Used on bigger hydrant systems, factories and warehouses.
Gun metal or stainless steel?
Gun metal is the traditional choice and suits most buildings and plants. Stainless steel is lighter in colour, does not tarnish and suits coastal, chemical and food sites where corrosion is a concern.
Both come with a blank cap and chain on the outlet. Keep spare parts such as hand wheels, spindles and washers in stock, and fit an orifice plate where the line pressure is high. Hoses go in a fire hose box next to the valve. More in hydrant valves.
