Types of ABC fire extinguishers

An ABC fire extinguisher uses mono ammonium phosphate (MAP) dry powder, which works on solid fires (wood, paper, cloth), flammable liquids (petrol, diesel, paint) and gas fires (LPG, CNG). The models on this page differ in how they are pressurised, the body and the size.

  • Stored pressure: the body is always under pressure and has a gauge, so you can see at a glance whether it is ready. Sizes run from 500 g (Ceasefire) and 1 kg up to 9 kg.
  • Cartridge type: a CO2 gas cartridge inside pressurises the body only when it is used. These units, from Kanex and Ceasefire, are robust and easy to refill on site, so they suit factories and plants.
  • Stainless steel body: Kanex makes a polished stainless steel ABC unit in 2, 4 and 6 kg for hotels, hospitals, labs and lobbies where looks and rust matter.
  • Automatic modular: ceiling mounted ABC units from Safex and SafePro (2 to 15 kg) that discharge on their own when the heat-sensing bulb bursts.
  • Trolley units: 25, 50 and 75 kg ABC powder on wheels with a long hose, for large risks such as godowns and yards.

How to choose an ABC fire extinguisher

  • Powder grade: MAP 90 powder has a much higher share of the active chemical than MAP 50 or MAP 40%, so it is chosen for offices, factories and higher risks. MAP 50 and MAP 40% are the budget options for low-risk spaces.
  • Size: 1 kg and 2 kg for cars and small shops, 4 kg for flats and clinics, 6 kg for offices, schools and corridors, 9 kg for workshops and warehouses.
  • Operation: stored pressure for everyday use where staff check the gauge; cartridge type where units get rough handling and need quick refills.
  • Where not to rely on it alone: powder leaves a residue, so for server rooms and panels a clean agent fire extinguisher or a CO2 fire extinguisher is the cleaner choice.

ABC fire extinguisher price in India

The price of an ABC fire extinguisher depends on the size, the powder grade (MAP 90, MAP 50 or MAP 40%), stored pressure or cartridge operation, the body material and the brand. Each product on this page shows a starting price as a guide, before GST. The final price comes with your quote and depends on the options and quantity you need. Quick answers to what buyers ask us most. For anything else, ask us on WhatsApp.

Ask on WhatsApp
What is an ABC fire extinguisher used for?

It is used on Class A fires (wood, paper, cloth), Class B fires (petrol, oil, paint) and Class C fires (LPG and other gases). That wide coverage makes it the standard choice for homes, offices, shops and factories.

What is the difference between MAP 90 and MAP 50 ABC powder?

MAP is mono ammonium phosphate, the active chemical in ABC powder. MAP 90 has a much higher share of it than MAP 50, so it is chosen for offices, factories and higher risks, while MAP 50 is the budget option for low-risk spaces.

Which size of ABC fire extinguisher do I need for an office?

A 6 kg ABC unit is the common size for offices, corridors and showrooms, with 4 kg units for small cabins and 9 kg for larger floors or workshops. The number depends on the floor area and the risk.

Stored pressure or cartridge type: which is better?

Stored pressure units have a gauge and are easy to check, so they suit most buildings. Cartridge units are pressurised only when used and are easy to refill on site, which suits factories and rough use.

Can an ABC fire extinguisher be used on electrical fires?

ABC powder does not conduct electricity, but it leaves a residue that can damage electronics. For panels and server rooms, a CO2 or clean agent extinguisher is the better choice.

Are the ABC fire extinguisher prices on this page final?

No. Each product shows a starting price as a guide, before GST. Pick the size, powder and quantity and send an enquiry; the final price comes with your quote.
